Colleen is a skilled communicator who instantly wins over audiences and holds the sought after CSP- Certified Speaking Professional designation, the highest earned international designation for professional speakers. Only 12% of all speaking professionals hold the designation of CSP and Colleen is one of only 23 nurses in the world with this credential.

 

Having spent a lifetime in hospitals as a nursing student, nurse’s aide,  graduate nurse, registered nurse, educator, manager, and director, Colleen knows healthcare. For the past twelve years, she held positions as Director of Innovation and Director of Ambassador and Customer Services at a hospital system in the Midwest. Concentrating on the patient experience, Sweeney conducted a three-year study about patient fears.  Her research titled The Patient Empathy Project™ has made her the nation's thought leader in truly patient-centered care.

As a member of the National Speakers Association, a Certified Speaking Professional, certified facilitator with the Tom Peters Company, and founder of Sweeney Healthcare Enterprises, Colleen is on a mission to transform healthcare.  Though she holds degrees in nursing, and business, and a masters certificate in project management, she attributes most of her success to an earlier career in improvisational comedy.  Her time on stage doing improv taught her to build enthusiasm, think differently about the work she does and pull audiences into the power of possibility within themselves.

Colleen has served on the governing board of The Rhema Project, doing work in southern India to eliminate female infanticide. Part of the project in involves a nursing school in Danishpet, India, educating young woman for the healthcare profession, forever changing the trajectory of their lives. Colleen works to help raise tuition for the nursing program as well as to host medical mission trips for US healthcare professionals to India.
